Estes Park Senior Fellow of Innovation, Gary Kaplan, MD, has been named Chairman of the National Patient Safety Foundation’s Lucian Leape Institute. He replaces patient-safety pioneer, Dr. Lucian Leape, the foundation’s namesake and chair since 2007.

The Lucian Leape Insitute is composed of national thought leaders working to provide a strategic vision for improving patient safety. Under Dr. Kaplan’s leadership, the institute’s top priority will be implementation of a safety culture and the critical role of leadership in that culture. Dr. Kaplan’s other goals include advancing the movement toward systems designed around patients, seeking transparency in all dimensions of health care, and looking to other industries for solutions.

We are proud to have this accomplished physician leader as part of our expert faculty, and we congratulate Dr. Kaplan on this prestigious appointment.
